This jam was delicious: a wonderful blend of savory and sweet. It's great on toast, as a relish for meat, or on a grown-up grilled cheese sandwich. Mmhmm.
For the grilled cheese I used bacon, butter, Havarti cheese, thinly sliced apple, and the onion jam. It was so very yummy.

Happy Monday!
Well, that's going on the Christmas gift list.
ReplyDeleteI know it wouldn't be the same, but do you think I could cheat and use maple-flavour?
Real maple's very expensive here in the UK, and I make my own maple-flavour stuff anyhow.
The flavor would definitely be different. I would worry that the maple flavor would give it an overly sweet taste. Maple syrup has a very subtle flavor. Perhaps if you only use a tiny amount of the flavoring?
